My name is Jamie Riseley and I am from Canada. I
have just completed a three month internship program
in Mozambique.
I
worked primarily with the pre-school and with the
youth of Mozambique. I stayed with an amazing family
that welcomed me into their home for the last three
months, words cannot describe their hospitality and
how they had a positive influence in my life.
Being a missionary in Africa
brought challenges and obstacle but it also
brought a lot of rewards, friendships, learning
experiences and a deeper understanding of whom
God is and his love for his people. It showed me
that with God anything is possible. You can have
nothing but, still be content with what you have
and not always want more and more. The biggest
lesson I learned was I needed to slow down and
enjoy the simple things that God created;
sometimes we are so busy we forget to slow down
and appreciate the simple things.
My favourite
part of Mozambique was playing soccer with the kids,
it was always a lot of fun and to hear them laughing
and see them smiling and being kids it always put a
smile on my face. Some of these kids come from tough
backgrounds but to know that you can make a
difference in their lives it is something I will
always remember. Soccer was always something that
the kids looked forward to playing and I was glad to
be a part of that for the time that I was there.
Working in
Mozambique was an amazing experience and I am so
grateful for the time I had their. It
really does change you. I will continue to pray for
Mozambique the people of Mozambique and, the
ministry that is being done their by Hennie,
Marianne, Tessa, Mari and Pieter.
