LESOTHO: Bridgett Miranda
What an absolute life-changing experience!!! Lesotho
was so amazing. Just the exquisite beauty of the
land can blow anyone over. The children were so
spectacular! Not even the language barrier between
us could stop us from having so much fun. From very,
very young ages (I'm talking three/four) those kids
are working. Whether it's taking care of their
younger siblings or fetching milk and looking after
the cattle, they're out there every morning in
nothing but a blanket, missing out on childhood.

This really struck me so deeply knowing how truly
privileged we really are to have in possession just
one toy. it also occurred to me that these children
don't get to hear about the one true Shepherd very
often. While their parents are in church, they're
outside playing with a stick because they have no
understanding of what's going on. They need a Sunday
School so desperately, a knowledge of Christ on a
level that they can understand.
I
pray that maybe one day God will send me there again
for a season to give those kids what they deserve.
But really, if you need a touch from God, grab a
paper plate, a handful of rice, a stapler, and a
coloured crayon, then make your way to Lesotho and
allow just one child to play and dance with their
new instrument. You'll be changed forever!! Don't
take that simplicity for granted. |
